Sanibel Island Weddings

Sanibel is located just off the coast of Fort Myers. The barrier island is a popular destination location for intimate weddings. The island also has resorts and restaurants for larger weddings with receptions. Just north of Sanibel Island is Captiva Island. This smaller island also is a barrier island to Fort Myers. Both Sanibel and Captiva Islands do not have traffic lights! The Fort Myers area beaches are natural with vacation condominiums and small family beach hotels. In Fort Myers there are larger hotels to accomodate larger weddings. Sanibel and Captiva Islands are about 30 miles from the Fort Myers airport. The airport has international flights, which makes the Fort Myers area more attractive for destination weddings.

Destination weddings in Fort Myers are most often planned for the winter months. The beach weddings provide for a great-long weekend getaway for family and wedding guests coming down from the north. Weddings in the Fort Myers area during the summer months are now more popular as rates are at their lowest and Sanibel Island is less crowded.
